Great Indian Bustard
This bird used to roam the plains, but now due to hunting and habitat loss there is an estimated 250 left in the world. So if you are in India or Pakistan and your reading this warn people about this problem. They tried to breed the birds in captivity but it didnt work so all they/we can do is protect their habitats, hope, and cross our fingers.
Yangtze Giant Soft Shell Turtle
The yangtze giant softshell turtle is a endangered as the rhinos. There is only two left at a zoo in china. They have the record of the biggest turtle in the world. What are we gonna do if they go extinct. I wonder whats the next biggest turtle. Take the turtle survey on the links page and vote for a turtle you think is the second biggest. Anyway if you have any ideas how to save this turtle, or any animal please comment below.
Iberian Lynx
They are found in the Iberian Peninsula and their extinction would be the first of all the feline species. Their were two diseases and a sharp decline in their main food resource. These animals are horrible at adapting to new food. That's why they are dying out. We need to do something. Click the lynx link on the link page and symbollically adopt a lynx or donate to the organization. It will help, this is a really good organization.
Northern White Rhinoceros
Ever seen the rhinos at the Milwaukee county zoo. Well take that image, and completely erase the horns. The zoo has southern black rhinos, and the rhino that is critically endangered is the northern white rhino. The one i'm talking about have stubbier horns, and is critically endangered. their so endangered that they are believed to be extinct in the wild. They only have ten altogether in two conservation places in the Czech republic and California. they are so protected that they have guards with them 24/7, to protect them from poachers. If you have any ideas on something we can do please comment.
Ivory-Billed Woodpecker
The most critically endangered species is the ivory-billed woodpecker, which lives, or lived, in the Southeastern part of the US as well as Cuba. This huge woodpecker was considered extinct until 2004, when some reports of sightings in Arkansas and Florida began to come in. However, definite proof of the ivory-bill’s existence has remained unknown, and if a population does exist, it is likely to be tiny and extremely vulnerable. The ivory-billed woodpecker owes its near, or complete extinction to habitat loss (logging) as well as over, exploitation by humans, who hunted it for its feathers. You read that we caused the extinction to this cute defenseless animal. If you want to help them take the survey that is in the links page under Ivory-Billed Woodpecker, because you can make a difference in a click of a button.
Adopt-A-Manatee
You're probably thinking, what? I don't know anyone in their right mind who would/could house a manatee. Well that's not the kind of adoption I'm talking about. I mean you pick a manatee you want to sponsor, you can donate once or be a monthly donor. I did it, my manatees name is Lily. I only did a one time payment, now I get monthly emails and I can help manatees! The link is in the links category on top if you want to check it out!
Manatees
Hi there, you probably can tell but this is my first blog post so bear with me and give me feedback on what to do differently or an animal that you want me to look up and maybe encourage donations for. Now back to my entry....
Florida manatees alone made a record in 2013 with the most reported manatee deaths. That means there was probably more. This is very horrible to say but on the average of 10% of the manatee population killed off every year that 2013 that number hit 17%. 829 killed manatees. 276 by algae bloom, algae blooms is when there is an increase in algae usually in the water system, some of these algae's have a toxin in them that when a manatee eats it, it does something to their nerves system and kills them. A few years ago there was the red tide which was the problem in 2013. That's the end of today's post hope you thought I did good.
